Behavior Simulation Polyamide 6 (PA6) During Friction Stir Welding and Comparison with Experimental Results
نویسندگان
چکیده مقاله:
In this study, the effects of linear speed and rotational speed of the friction stir welding tool was investigated on the heat generation and distribution of heat, the material flow and weld defect formation of the Polyamide 6 (PA6) workpiece. The commercial CFD Fluent 6.4 software package was used to the simulation of the process with computational fluid dynamic technique. The output results of the simulation showed higher proportion of rotational speed to the tool linear speed, the material flow in front of the friction stir welding tool became more and the dimension of the welding stir zone became bigger. The maximum simulating generated heat was 220 centigrade degrees and the maximum head and material flow were observed at the advancing side of the join surface. The obtained simulation results were compared with other researcherschr('39') experimental results and the simulation outputs displayed acceptable agreement with experimental results.

Analysis and Comparison of Friction Stir Welding and Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding of Aluminum Alloy
Friction Stir Welding (FSW) is a solid-state joining process; i.e., no melting occurs. The welding process is promoted by the rotation and translation of an axis-symmetric non-consumable tool along the weld centerline. Thus, the FSW process is performed at much lower temperatures than conventional fusion welding, nevertheless it has some disadvantages. Laser Assisted Friction Stir Welding (LAFS...

Introduction The Friction Stir Welding (FSW) process is an innovative technique to join metals in the plasticity field, thus not reaching the melting temperature and consequently the liquid state as it happen in traditional welding processes. This feature of the FSW proved an enhancement of the fatigue behaviour and strength of the joints, leading some companies to adopt the process for the man...
متن کاملFriction stir welding and processing
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a relatively new solid-state joining process. This joining technique is energy efficient, environment friendly, and versatile. In particular, it can be used to join high-strength aerospace aluminum alloys and other metallic alloys that are hard to weld by conventional fusion welding. FSW is considered to be the most significant development in metal joining in a de...
متن کاملHeat Transfer in Friction Stir Welding—Experimental and Numerical Studies
In the friction stir welding (FSW) process, heat is generated by friction between the tool and the workpiece. This heat flows into the workpiece as well as the tool. The amount of heat conducted into the workpiece determines the quality of the weld, residual stress and distortion of the workpiece. The amount of the heat that flows to the tool dictates the life of the tool and the capability of ...
متن کاملReview: friction stir welding tools
Friction stir welding (FSW) is a widely used solid state joining process for soft materials such as aluminium alloys because it avoids many of the common problems of fusion welding. Commercial feasibility of the FSW process for harder alloys such as steels and titanium alloys awaits the development of cost effective and durable tools which lead to structurally sound welds consistently. Material...
